Kindergarten Fun
Here are a couple of fun things kindergarten has been up to this fall. We observed what would happen if we combined water and baking soda in the right environment (an empty bottle). The result: the pumpkin-faced balloon blew itself up! The same thing worked with a bigger ghost-faced balloon as we adjusted one variable—the amount of baking soda. Carbon dioxide and oxygen are science words we can use pretty regularly now.
Also, it was fun to act out the story The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. After much clomping, wiggling, shaking, clapping, and nodding not to mention a big pumpkin head BOO BOOING, they came together to chase the crows away. (It’s just as easy as you can imagine to catch a picture of these characters standing still after this kind of acting but it's worth the experience!)
