On October 12, the Junior High Football team completed their season, which began back on August 17. A lower number of 10 boys competed this year for the Griffins. There were six 8th graders and four 7th graders who suited-up and completed the season. The team finished with a record of 4 wins & only 1 loss, with all of the contests being 6-man football games. After starting the season off slow with a home loss to Pawnee City, the Junior High completed their season with four straight victories. A home victory vs. Weeping Water, and three road wins against H-TR-S, McCool Junction & Parkview Christian. The McCool Junction game ended in exciting fashion as the Griffs held on for a 39-38 victory! The boys improved as the season wore on, getting much better in fundamentals such as blocking & tackling, as well as being able to remember the concepts of running our 6-man offenses & defenses. Coaches for the team for the 3 rd straight year were John Mohr and Brian Vitosh. Both coaches agreed that the players worked hard, were willing to learn, and improved in their football knowledge. The members of the JH FB team would like to thank the parents and fans of the team who supported us all year!
