JH Pioneer Conference Quiz Bowl

On Monday, March 24th, the JH Quiz Bowl team traveled to Southern for Pioneer Conference. There were 21 teams that competed in two pools. The Diller-Odell A team made up of the 8th grade was in pool B while the 7th Grade team, which was the B team, was in pool A. The 7th graders went 6-4 and the 8th graders went 9-1 in their pools. The top 16 teams were then put into a Gold and Silver double-elimination tournament. The A team was in the gold while the B team made the silver. Both teams won their first 2 matches and were sitting well, then each lost a close match and were fighting back through the bottom of their brackets. The B team came up short of the championship match, losing on the last question while time ran out in the round. They ended up receiving 3rd place. The A team made it to the championship match and won the first, forcing a winner-take-all final. In the end, the Griffins came up short but received a second-place finish. Both teams worked hard and did very well. The A team is made up of Andrew Hawks, Libby Huwaldt, Josh Landon, Hannah Penner, and Zach Schnuelle. The B team has Logan Barr, Lucy Dorn, Lily Ebeling, Preston Kostal, and Aubrey Roelfs.
